I think I’m on the brink of insanity. In an effort to discourage cheating, I have created two final exams on four different colors of paper. This is a slightly less-complicated version of my earlier plan of four different exams on 8 colors. I feel like I’m in an episode of loony tunes, where I’m Wile E. Coyote and my students are the roadrunners. I’ve set the trap, but somehow I’m thinking it’s just not going to work… stay tuned for tomorrow’s episode!
I don’t like giving face time to things and people who don’t deserve it, but I think it’s more important for everyone to know what is out there, subtly surrounding us and perhaps permeating through society. Check out this article. Warning - prepare to be (again) distressed at the capabilities of irrational minds. Still, it’s better to know. Sometimes I listen to conservative Christian radio talk shows - just so I can try and understand the thought process, as bewildering as it is.
This all reminds me of a Kurt Vonnegut story I re-read lately called Unready to Wear (from Welcome to the Monkey House - thanks K). It is about the “amphibians” who were able to leave their skins behind them and now live at relative peace amongst each other. Apparently they are at war, or rather, the people who still inhabit their bodies are at war with them because the amphibians don’t really care. They have become unencumbered by their bodies, and apparently that was the result of most earthly conflict.
